Unison 2 looks promising (i could not stand Unison 1's multi-window approach), but i'm having way too many problems with it, so far, to switch from Thunderbird (which i hate) for my regular news reading. i'm in contact with Panic support, so hopefully those will get resolved, but who knows. There's a mixture of stuff that's just broken (for example, i can't read any messages on forums.embarcadero.com, it just fails) and design decision i don't like (like, groups show in bold when yhey have new messages, but only until i select the group. once i did, i lose the info if there's unread stuff).
the main "problem" with Unsion is, i think, that it's focused too much on (a) filesharing and (b) usenet (vs using a variety of vendor NNTP servers that aren't usenet. the latter *works*, but not very intuitively).
Thunderbird, imho, is a pile of crap. But, as bad as it is, right now it's the only reader that *works* for me.
One major feature i'd love in a news reader is to sync subscription and read status between machines (ie desktop and laptop). can't see that ever being added to Unison.
but this is probably getting off topic ;)
